Samuel E. Grosvenor diary, 1864.

Diary kept by Samuel E. Grosvenor, of Guilford, Connecticut, while serving with Company B of the 16th Connecticut Infantry Regiment. Grosvenor enlisted 23 July 1862 and was mustered-in a Sergeant on 24 August 1862. He was wounded in action during the battle of Antietam on 17 September 1862 and was captured on 20 April 1864, with the majority of his regiment, at Plymouth, NC. He was paroled on 16 December 1864 and subsequently drowned in the Potomac River on 24 April 1865. Grosvenor provides interesting detail of his capture and imprisonment at Andersonville.
